Government Security Agency Videos

Internally circulated videos for government security agency

I was tasked to create informational videos that were internally circulated for employees from a particular government security agency’s compound, to inform them  of the changes in roads for vehicles and walking routes due to the construction of the new extension building within the compound. Two videos were made aiming at two different target groups. The first is Interim Driving Route During Extension Building Construction which serves to inform employees who drive of the change in driving routes, road markings and introduction of new road diversions and temporary carparks. The second is Interim Route to Canteen During Extension Building Construction which apprises employees that their regular route to the canteen has been boarded up and inaccessible, in place, there is a new route to walk to the canteen due to hoardings in the area.

Unfortunately, I am unable to upload the video online to show as it includes sensitive in-camp imagery and videos that may compromise the government security agency's secrecy laws. Therefore, I will try to explain the content of the two videos. The concept is similar to LTA's Travel Route from KPT (TPE) to Punggol Central and Lorong Halus Via the New Link Road YouTube video.

Both videos start with an animated title scene, followed by an introduction by an employee who explains the situation and invites you to follow along the journey.

In Interim Driving Route During Extension Building Construction, an animated aerial view map is show of the new driving route. Next, there is a drive-through video footage of how the new driving route looks like, with points in the video paused and the landscaped is "transformed" through Photoshop editing to show how the area will look like when the changes are in effect, such as road markings being changed, placement of hoardings, an addition of a sentry guardhouse point, etc.

However, unlike the Interim Driving Route During Extension Building Construction, Interim Route to Canteen During Extension Building Construction did not have a first hand video walk-through. Instead, there was a simplified aerial view of the compound whereby the motion graphics illustrated the route to take to the canteen, as well as photos popping up at important junctures to aid employees in visualising the route to take.

In the pre-shoot part, I conceptualised, did the storyboards, and created multiple mockups. I helped in framing the shots and directed during the filming shoot. During the post-shoot editing phase, the aerial view maps were drawn in Illustrator. Photoshop was used to edit still frames to "transform" them to realistically show what the new changes would look like when it takes effect. Premiere Pro was used to tie the whole video together, as well as to animate the motion graphics in the aerial view maps scenes.
